In her own words, Azbil describes her creative journey as akin to "wandering in a dark forest, sometimes acting as a guide for others into that very darkness—a guide who believes that within the shadows lie answers and clarity." Her work thrives on collaboration, where every element—be it the medium, the technology, the space, or the participant—becomes an active collaborator, shaping the process and outcome.
Azbil’s art is a meditation on the liminal and the ephemeral, the unseen and the undefined. Drawing from mythology, textual practices, art, science, and anthropology, she employs these disciplines as tools to transcend the boundaries of conventional wisdom and the perceived "nature" of things. Through documentary filmmaking, she reinterprets reality, offering an artistic lens that blurs the line between the tangible and the imagined.
Daria Azbil’s work invites audiences to step into the unknown, to question the familiar, and to embrace the transformative power of art as a means of understanding the complexities of existence.
